It’s difficult to experiment in the tradition of a literary cabaret, where everything was explored and tried out a century ago. However, Maria and Ruthia from krelex zentre do not look for easy ways in their pursuit of simplicity. Instead, they recycle the legacy of predecessors in their uniquely clumsy manner. Their small cabaret is created out of borrowings and derivations. Perhaps they do not even know what they are doing. As they often say: “we don’t know what we’re doing, but we’re doing it, and everything is stolen”, — but even these words are not their own: it’s a quote from Jonathan Burrows & Matteo Fargion’s “Cheap Lecture”.
