‘Second Sex’ was a pro-feminist group show that united more than twenty artists and activists (mostly female) from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The main issues of the exhibition revolved around artists’ readings of the famous book by Simone de Beauvoir. The show was organized and curated by Creolex Centr and took place at L.E.S. Space, Almaty, in March 2013. At that time L.E.S. Space was occupied by various curatorial activities of Creolex Centr, representing a kind of an improvised Nacht Kunstraum and a meeting point for the young artistic community of the city. In this video one can see some moments of the “second Sex” opening ceremony and get an idea of what did the Creolex centr’s events at L.E.S. actually look like.
